From Kindergarten to Pixellot

We’ve got amazing employees!  These are some of their stories.

“The number one rule in sports is to have fun!” – Andy Lessem (our first coach)

We are rising juniors at the University of Florida studying Business and Sports Management. Being both athletes and avid sports fans, our love for sports basically continues to grow with age. Turning our dream into a reality of working in the sports field has started this summer at Pixellot and we are super excited to embark on our journey with the best AI-automated video and analytical company for sports.

Our Childhood

Growing up only five minutes away from each other was the start of a friendship that continues to build to this day. While the “growing up” part only occurred for one of us, that was what truly started the dynamic duo that many of our friends know us as. In school, our teachers would find it comical when we would walk into class together and would basically have to strain their necks to just make eye contact with the both of us.

We both played on numerous different sports teams together as kids – soccer, baseball, etc. As we grew a little bit older, we started focusing on different sports that we used to our own respective strengths. While one of us obviously used his height (Danny) to excel in basketball, he (Dylan) had to use exceptional eye-hand coordination to perfect his abilities in baseball and lacrosse. As we became serious in our respective sports during high school, our friendship drifted away a little bit, but the bond that grew between us two always stuck.

Onward

Our journey to Pixellot started when we heard about the Onward Israel program, which immediately peaked both of our interests. An eight-week adventure that included living in Tel Aviv together and gaining a valuable internship sounded like an exciting opportunity for both of us. Onward Israel provided us with a global and cross-cultural experience that is not only beneficial to expanding our Jewish identities but also building our professional skills in both the business and sports industries.

Why Pixellot?

The most ironic part of our story happened when we both had the same internship coordinator set up an interview to potentially intern at Pixellot. Neither of us had a clue that we were trying to work for the same company. Eventually, we both accepted the internship and found out a few weeks later that we would be reunited as co-workers for the summer.

Our love for sports originally drew us towards the opportunity at Pixellot, but as we continued to research more into the company, we realized that its true mission to democratize sports was critical to both of us. As former athletes who have played in many different tournaments across the country and seeing our parents struggle to watch us play, we saw the value that Pixellot brought to the table. Broadcasting sports from the youth level to the professional level, allows family, friends, and fans to watch their favorite players from anywhere around the world.

As we finish our first week at Pixellot joining the marketing team, we reflect back on how we got here and are excited for what lies ahead for the both of us. A new experience for this friendship in a country across the world working at a company that truly believes in both the brand and mission – what could be better?
