Five Fast Facts about Title IX

Here are FIVE FAST FACTS we collected about it:

1. Since the passage of Title IX Women in sports have been on the rise. Female participation in high school sports has grown by 1,057% and at the collegiate level, it has grown by 614%. 

2. Women make up 54% of college students and 43% of those women are collegiate athletes. 

3. Before the establishment of Title IX, only 7% of women participated in High School Sports, and 2% participated at the collegiate level. Now, 41.5% of women participate in High School Sports, and 43% at the collegiate level. 

4. Title IX has impacted women’s participation in the Olympics. The 2016 Olympic Summer Games in Rio, was marked the largest contingent of U.S. Female Olympians in history. Totaling 294 women and 264 men. 

5. Now 50 years later, 3.5 million girls now participate in high school sports.
