Lake Forest Illinois Adopts Pixellot’s Automated Solutions and Launches the First U.S. Smart Sports City

The City of Lake Forest, Illinois, is thrilled to announce its groundbreaking initiative with Pixellot, the world-leading AI-automated Video and Data solution provider to become the United States’ first Smart Sports City.

The Smart Sports City approach aims to democratize sports media access and revolutionize the way local sports are available to the public, and using AI-automated production allows local sports and athletes to be elevated to wider regional, national and international audiences. Lake Forest implemented Pixellot’s cutting-edge AI sports cameras in its brand-new athletic facilities and will livestream youth sports league games to a new OTT viewing app. The new OTT will revolutionize the way residents and visitors experience and participate in youth sports.

The City of Lake Forest, known for its commitment to innovation and athletic excellence, has taken a step forward in embracing the future of sports technology. By partnering with Pixellot, Lake Forest has embarked on a mission to transform its athletic facilities into AI-powered, connected hubs for athletes, coaches, and families alike. After a well-received trial period at the city’s Everett Park facility featuring AI-automated production and distribution of over 30 games to 4,000 viewers, Lake Forest will install eight fixed Pixellot sports cameras at its new Deerpath Community Park athletic facilities that will be used to livestream youth sports leagues throughout the year.

“Since launching the pilot program at Everett Park, we’ve heard positive feedback from Lake Forest residents who appreciate being about to watch games regardless of location,” said Lake Forest City Manager Jason Wicha. “If a parent is working late, a grandparent lives out of state, or an athlete wants to relive a great play, they’ll be able to do so with the new cameras at Deerpath Community Park.”

“We are excited to launch this innovative Smart Sport City project with the City of Lake Forest,” said David Shapiro President North America, Pixellot. “Our end-to-end technology solution for forward-thinking municipalities is bringing city-owned athletic facilities into the future for the benefit of the citizens and the communities. By producing all major sports and launching new OTT platforms for live and on-demand viewing, Pixellot develops a comprehensive technological infrastructure for sports departments of municipalities of all sizes, bringing a new level of service and engagement.”

This visionary step by Lake Forest is set to raise the bar for sports facilities and communities across the country, inspiring others to embrace the future of sports technology. Deerpath Community Park sports facilities are expected to open in the Spring of 2024 with complete camera capture and livestreaming capabilities.
