How can we help?

Let's talk

General Information

Pixellot was founded in 2013by Gal Oz and partner Dr. Miky Tamir with the intention of introducing automatic production to the sports world.

Pixellot’s camera systems contain multiple cameras in a single camera head unit, which itself is powered by a computer tower (video processing unit). The feed from each camera is stitched together to form a panoramic view of the field of play. From this panoramic view, the relevant algorithm for the sport is applied to create an authentic broadcast feed that follows the action, zooming in/out and panning left/right.

A panoramic view is a capture of the entire field (or court). This is created with a single wide-angle camera or by “stitching together” the capture of several cameras (depending on the system).

Pixellot developed algorithms specifically for each sports type to ensure that we can replicate the behavior of a traditional camera operator, predicting and following the natural flow of the match. With over 90,000 hours of live content being produced every month on our systems, there is a huge quantity of sampling that  enriches the self-learning AI technology and continually improve results.

It is very simple: Just visit https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/pixellot for details.

Pixellot currently covers 16 types of sports:
Soccer, American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Futsal, Handball, Ice Hockey, Handball, Lacrosse, Softball, Rugby, Beach Volleyball, Softball, and Roller Hockey.
Additional sports can also be covered when there is an equivalent algorithm that can be used (e.g. Netball can be filmed well using the Basketball algorithm).

Products

Pixellot Prime is a cost-effective, broadcast-quality, remote video production system that offers high-resolution video capture at 50-60 FPS with an option to add more camera units and a choice of fully automatic or augmented production modes.

Pixellot Show is a fully AI-Automated set-and-forget HD sports capture and streaming solution for semi-pro and amateur leagues.

It depends on the requirements and the budget. Adding one or two camera angles requires only a single operator to run a production instead of multiple camera operators, control rooms, OB Vans, etc.

Pixellot You is a software-based solution mainly for the amateur and semi-professional sports markets that is capable of automatically producing professional-looking games for streaming. The solution uses an off-the-shelf action camera rather than a fixed Pixellot camera.

Pixellot Show is available in a portable version however to maximize the effect and the benefit from the solution we recommend a fixed installation at the venue.
Pixellot You is fully mobile as it is based on setting-up a commercially available, wide-angle action camera on a portable tripod or an upcoming Pixellot solution that will be available soon.

Pixellot has several solutions suited for various needs and venues. The lack of a stable internet connection wouldn’t mean that live games could not be streamed, as we are able to use a 3G or 4G cellular data connection. Alternatively, games can be available on-demand after upload to our cloud servers.

Automated Production

Automated production is an integrated system of cameras, software, and artificial intelligence algorithms that enable games to be filmed, produced, broadcast live, or on-demand automatically, without human intervention.

AI-Automation is the patented technological heart of Pixellot solutions which produces professional looking games with zooms and pans on the action using software and fixed cameras.

Yes, a remote commentary feed can be plugged into the production.

Several additional angles can be added.

The scoreboard is updated automatically by using a scoreboard camera or using a direct connection to the scoring software. Other graphics can be changed manually or automatically as needed.

Pixellot’s professional solutions (Prime, Show) rely on Pixellot camera arrays.
The Pixellot YOU solution is based on bringing your own wide-angle action-cam.

If the game is being broadcast live, the stream will go down until power is restored.

The system has a battery backup so the game recording and ability to stream on-demand will not be adversely affected.

OTT and Distribution

Pixellot’s OTT solution is a fully-featured, comprehensive platform that provides live and on-demand streaming on a variety of devices allowing registration, payment, and subscription management.

OTT (over-the-top) is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms. Over-the-top services are typically accessed via: websites apps, digital media players, and smart TVs.

We offer a wide range of ad monetization options with Videos (VAST), static banners, watermarks, and animated banners.

The NFHS Network will be further assisting schools by increasing its subscription revenue sharing effective August 1, 2020.

Coaching

We provide two types of solutions, for pros and amateurs.

Professional clubs and coaches use the our high-end professional system which was perfected by FC Barcelona. Amateur and high-school teams can benefit from the wide functionality of Pixellot’s coaching app which can be paired with VidSwap’s analytics platform.

Yes, it was. Our coaching solution was designed for coaches with direct input from FC Barcelona’s coaches and analysts.

Many of the top clubs in the world use Pixellot’s coaching solutions including elite clubs from the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Holland and the entire Mexican professional leagues.

Most of the coaching solutions are additional packages that can be added at any time since they rely on the Pixellot infrastructure that is already installed, others rely on dedicated camera units.

Yes, the coaching solution is usually intended for internal purposes but clubs can use it for streaming and broadcasting as well.

Analytics (VidSwap)

VidSwap is a game breakdown and analytics platform used by professional teams, leagues and colleges around the world. Pixellot acquired VidSwap in 2019 and today it’s an integral part of Pixellot’s offering for any sports organization – big or small.

Sports analytics digs into aspects such as game data and player and team performance using video recording during games and practices.

We provide an extensive set of analytics that varies by sport:

In-depth analysis of team, athlete data, stats, shot charts, heat maps…

Usually between 4-8 hours.

Yes, you can share film with any Hudl user and any Hudl user can still share film with you.

Yes, you can download any film from your Hudl library and upload it to VidSwap with unlimited storage.

Yes, you can manually upload any game, practice, or training video to VidSwap very easily.

Setup and Use

The process is very straightforward and uncomplicated. The variables are contract negotiations, location, and installation venue infrastructure.
Once the system is installed, it is ready to go almost immediately.

A permanent installation can take a single day to complete. Once installed, the system will need calibrating and initializing. This process takes 15-20 minutes and needs to be completed only once for a fixed installation (unless the field dimensions are altered at a later date).

It depends on the system ordered and the venue where it will be installed.
In general, Installation is quite simple. It is recommended to work in pairs and follow the installation guide.

The cost of installation varies from one facility to another.
As a rule of thumb, the shorter the distance of the camera from the server room, the lower the infrastructure costs.

Yes, the system can be mounted on a tripod or temporarily attached to any fixture or fitting at the venue. This can then be relocated accordingly, either at the same venue or elsewhere. Note that every time the system is moved, the calibration and initialization process will need to be redone (15-20 minutes).

The camera head needs to be located midfield (midcourt), at a height that covers the fields 4 corners. The camera head is connected to the computer tower (video processing unit). This can be located any distance away (e.g. 100m+). The distance will determine the length and type of cabling required to connect both components.

Electricity & internet connections. These connect to the computer tower (not the camera head), meaning that the computer tower is best located adjacent to them.

Live streams can be forwarded by multiple means (e.g. RTMP, RTSP, SDI, NDI, API, SDK).

Wherever you want (e.g. at home, in the office, in the analysis room). In addition to our stream forwarding capabilities, Pixellot’s footage is immediately streamed up to the cloud, meaning that you can access it from anywhere with an internet connection.

Pixellot’s preferred connection is via a fixed-line. However, WIFI and 4G/5G connections are also possible.

Pixellot’s preferred upload speed is 5-10 MB/s. However, we can stream live using a connection as low as 2MB/s (note that the picture quality of the live stream will be slightly affected – but, as a high-quality copy of the footage is always stored locally, this high-quality footage will be available post-match).

Graphics can be automated in multiple ways:
1) Using a camera directed at the in-venue scoreboard to translate the scoreboard details (e.g. clock, score, etc.) into live graphics.
2) Ingesting live data and creating graphics accordingly.
3) Scheduling graphics in advance to appear at specific points of the production. (e.g. pre-match, goal scored, etc.)
(Note that where automatic graphics are not created, Pixellot enables clients to manually apply & update scoreboard graphics using the Pixellot App).

Commentary can either be applied at the venue or remotely.

Pixellot’s camera system includes microphones to capture ambient sound. We can also integrate sound from additional microphones, either by cable or wirelessly.

Pixellot offers intuitive clipping tools, both via the Pixellot App (for creating live clips or post-match on a mobile device) and via Pixellot Clipper (a desktop solution for advanced clipping needs).

The automatic production will zoom in to a certain level whilst maintaining the right picture quality. If you want to zoom in manually, this is possible by either switching off automatic production or by zooming in using the Pixellot App or Pixellot Clipper tools.

(Note that any zooming in/out is always done digitally as opposed to optically).

The systems are basically set and forget. Every once in awhile, it pays to check rigging for integrity and to wipe the camera lenses.

Technical and Specs

Pixellot offers a range of streaming packages tailored to your needs. The recordings need to be scheduled via the Pixellot App or Content Management System. This takes seconds to complete and can be initiated up to 5 minutes before any broadcast.

Yes, with Pixellot’s multi-encoding capabilities, we can provide up to 7 variants of the live stream.

Yes, it can. The recording is captured in a native progressive format, but the Pixellot system can then convert the live stream to interlaced.

Pixellot has built-in light recognition technology to adapt to any changes in lighting, meaning that the picture automatically adjusts when there is a sudden change in lighting conditions.

We require an internet connection (minimum 5Mb upload) and an electrical connection.

The camera performs better when it is installed permanently at a venue. If it can’t be permanently fixed at the venue, there is a mobile kit that can be acquired.
